Smithfield NC

Visitors' Center - Smithfield is about 12 miles via NC-210 from exit 319 of I-40 which is the exit of choice for
I-40 eastbound travelers. As you approach Smithfield on NC-210 you will join US-70 Business (which becomes Market Street in Smithfield). Drive through town and when you see the I-95 Interstate up ahead look for Industrial Park Drive on your left. (It is a frontage road along the Interstate.) Turn left and the Johnston County Visitors Bureau will be on your left at 1115 Industrial Park Drive. Ava Gardner Museum - If you are in our age group, you’ll remember Ava Gardner! The Ava Gardner Museum, here, is dedicated to her memory and chuck full of a wild assortment of mementos. Take exit 319 and head east to Smithfield; the museum is at 325 East Market Street. This town was planned very logically – you won’t even need a map. |
Smithfield is a popular overnight and rest spot for folks traveling between the northeast and Florida on I-95. Three of them offer discounts, have dataports (for your notebook computer) plus in-room refrigerators and microwaves. The Howard Johnson Express and Super 8 allow small pets. Our favorite (and least expensive) is the Howard Johnson express. All three are in plain sight of exit 95 of I-95. To explore amenities or reserve your room, click on the hotel name.
